The smallest cinema

The Sol Cinema is the world's smallest solar powered movie theatre. Housed inside a travel trailer from the 1960s, the cinema travels around the Southern part of Wales. The films screened here have mainly ecological themes whilst its capacity is 8 people.

Built by artist Paul O'Connor and others at Undercurrents, a British art collective, Sol Cinema is powered entirely by the sun. The cinema uses a small LED projector powered by lithium ion batteries, which are then powered by a solar panel on the outside of the trailer. Due to the fact that the batteries can store power, the theatre runs day and night and is constantly visiting events, festivals and other parties.
