Killings of Greeks in Crete by the Nazis

In June 1941 Nazi soldiers entered Kontomari in Chania and executed 25 Cretans, due to German loss during the Cretan War.  They executed every man they could find aged 18-50, whilst only the children and the elders lived after these mass killings. Later they also killed 180 Greeks from Kantano, killing their animals and burning down their houses. This is known as the 'Holocaust of Kantano'. The pictures (below) are from the execution in Kontomari, which belonged to the German Lieutenant Franz-Peter Weixler, who was accused of high treason because he leaked these photos.
