Litheos River

Litheos river is one of the attractions to be found in Trikala, a city located at the heart of the Greek mainland. The banks are linked by bridges, half of which are only for pedestrians.

The river floats through the small city of Trikala. It is unusual for a Greek city to have a river like it in its centre. It, in a way, reminds us of a North European city, where rivers are more common.

According to Strabo, Asclepius, the God of Medicine was born near Litheos River. Today, the visitor can easily identify the "Nymph of Litheos", a beautiful but yet mysterious statue.
