Saint Nikolaos Church, Kastoria

The small Macedonian city, and by Macedonian we mean the Northern region of Greece, of Kastoria has many beautiful churches. One of them is St. Nikolaos (Karydi). It is a small, single-space, post-Byzantine church located at the traditional settlement of Doltso. The timber-roof basilica was built in 1711. Today, the wooden chancel with five large icons still survives, as also do parts of the wall paintings at the eastern and western parts of the church, while the surviving wall paintings of the narthex are in bad condition.
