Saint James, Paddington

The present building of St. James Church in Paddington (central London) dates from 1882. Damaged by bombing during WW II, it was repaired and rededicated in 1958 by Her Royal Highness Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent. It is a very big building, quite tall, with lots of arches.

Its location, near Hyde Park, one of the largest parks in London, gives the opportunity to locals and tourists to visit the church and even write their prayers on a board; a beautiful and sentimental idea, showing that there is a praying community in the centre of a modern metropolis.
