Sustainable Fish – Royal Mail First Day Cover

The new Royal Mail First Day Cover is entitled Sustainable Fish. The seas surrounding the UK have been fished commercially for at least a thousand years, but as fishing technologies have evolved, overfishing and the use of more damaging catching methods have had  detrimental effect on fish stocks. British consumers can play their part in the preservation of threatened species by choosing to buy more sustainable varieties of fish. The list comprises of sustainable fish (pouting, herring, dab, red gurnard and Cornish sardine) and threatened species (common skate, sturgeon, conger eel, wolfish and spiny dogfish).
