The New Church of St. Nectarios

St Nectarios is one of the most venerated Saints in modern Greece, being a Saint who lived and died in the 20th century. Today, a large Church building sits on a hill, in the Kontos area on the Greek island of Aegina, where the Saint lived. It is annually visited by large numbers, especially since the island is only an hour and a half away from Athens. Many pilgrims seek help from the miracle-working saint, who died in 1920.

Near the church is a complex of buildings which include chapels, a store selling icons, holy oil, candles, postcards and the like, the old house in which the holy man lived, and the monastery inhabited by a small community of nuns who tend to the spiritual needs of those who come to seek solace and healing.
