The Orthodox Church of the Mother of God of the Life Giving Spring, Athens

The Orthodox Church of the Mother of God of the Life Giving Spring, in the centre of the Greek capital, is probably one of the most visited churches in Athens. Being built in 1852, it is a three-aisled basilica, designed by architect Dimitrios Zezos, built on land donated by Georgios Gennadius.

In 1972 this Church was declared a historical and artistic monument. The interior design of the Church of the Mother of God of the Life Giving Spring includes icon-paintings following the Renaissance style, painted by Loukidis (1920). Smaller icons and painting works were undertaken by P. Geralis.
