Church of St Barbara, Cappadocia

The Church of St Barbara in Soganli Valley, Cappadocia, is thought to be built in the 5th and 6th century AD. Its barrel ceiling seems to be a dominant architectural style in Churches in Cappadocia, allowing to decorate it with the life of Jesus Christ, including the main events of His life, such as His birth, Baptism, Crucifixion, Resurrection, Ascension, whilst also leaving space for the depiction of the Theotokos and her life, including the Annunciation and the Dormition.
