Bread for all

Here we have a small extract from the book “The Origin of Russian Communism”, p. 225, written by Nikolai Berdyaev, who shows his theological quality of his writings, stating:

‘The question of bread for myself is a material question, but the question of bread for my neighbours, for everybody, is a spiritual and a religious question. Man does not live by bread alone, but he does live by bread, and there should be bread for all. Society should be so organised that there is bread for all, and then it is that the spiritual question will present itself before men in all its depth’.
This small extract also reminds us of another statement, which Berdyaev wrote, explaining ‘Bread for me is a material question. Bread for my neighbour is a spiritual one’. Bread, i.e. food, well being  life and health are prerogatives that every human being should have, without exception.
