Fr.
William Taylor, an Anglican Priest in Notting Hill and Chairman of the Anglican
and Eastern Churches Association. Fr. William launched his new book Narratives of Identity – The Syrian Orthodox
Church and the Church of England 1895-1914, Published by Cambridge Scholars
Publishing, under the auspices of the Anglican and Eastern Churches
Association.
Present
were members of the Association, friends and colleagues. Archbishop Gregorios
of Thyateira and Great Britain, the Rt Revd Dr Vahan Havhanessian – Primate of
the Armenian Church in the U.K. and the Turkish Ambassador were among the
distinguished guests. Fr. William introduced the book, explaining its relevance
to the current epoch, since the Middle East is again undergoing political and
territorial changes. Both Archbishops then greeted everyone, giving their own
accounts on the importance of this book and the significant role Fr. William
plays in regards to Ecumenical Relations between East and West. The night
concluded with a beautiful song, using the original Aramaic text, used for the
completion of this book.
This
book contributes greatly to the further understanding of the relations between
Eastern and Western Christianity, showing the relevance of the relations and
dialogues which have taken place for more than a century. For more information
