The Nikean Club, which functions
under the blessings and auspices of the Archbishop of Canterbury, had its
annual dinner, on the 16th October 2013. Many guests and members
were present, including Anglicans and Orthodox, and faithful who were also
representing other societies, such as the Anglican and Eastern Churches
Association (A.E.C.A.) and the Fellowship of St. Alban and St. Sergius.
The night began with a Eucharist
in the Archbishop’s Chapel, within Lambeth Palace. The Eucharist was officiated
by the Rt Revd Christopher Hill, Bishop of Guildford and President of the
Conference of European Churches. He also gave a beautiful sermon explaining the
importance of Ecumenical Relations between the churches, praying for all the
Christians who are persecuted, whilst also praying for the two Bishops in
Syria, who have been kidnapped. The night concluded with a dinner, giving the
opportunity to the guests and members of the Nikean Club to further their
friendship by analysing a number of topics related to the relations between the
churches.
