The Holy Cross blessed with its
presence the Community of St Panteleimon and St Paraskevi in North West London,
on the 5th December 2013. Many Orthodox Faithful visited the Church
and venerated the cross, coming from many parts of the country.
The day began with a Liturgy,
since it was St Savvas’ day, followed by Hairetismous and a Paraklesis. The
services were conducted in Greek, Romanian and English, showing the plurality
of the congregation and the Orthodox faithful who came to venerate the Holy
Cross. Also, priests and monks came from Mount Athos, chanting and taking part
in the services. This event also attracted many locals, who wished to take
pictures and be part of this great event. Local journalists and photographers
came to record this day.
It is noteworthy that the Holy
Cross has left Jerusalem in the past only to visit Greece and Cyprus. This
instance was the first time that it went to another country, being a
significant event for all Orthodox faithful in Britain.
