Little Saint Mary’s (also known
as Saint Mary the Less) is a medieval parish church in the heart of the ancient
English university city of Cambridge. Since the late 19th century it
has offered a distinctive liturgical and sacramental witness in the Catholic
tradition of the Church of England to both the City and University.
A question many ask is why this
church has the epithet ‘Little’. It is because near this church building lies
the well-known University church, Great St. Mary’s. Little Saint Mary is
smaller than the latter one, but higher.
