The Orthodox Church has always
given a great emphasis to the life in Christ, living the Church, being in
communion with God through the Holy Sacraments. An academic understanding of
the faith will only take the Christian so far. Living the Church, the Tradition,
the Bible, and being in communion with God is essential for experiencing the
Truth, i.e. God.
‘The role of the Church is not,
therefore, to impose upon man’s mind some truth which otherwise he is unable to
perceive, but to make him live and grow in Spirit, so that he himself may see
and experience the Truth’. [1]
