The Greek Orthodox Church of the
Archangel Michael[1],
in Margate, East England, welcomed, on Tuesday 28th July, a new icon
of St Paisios of the Holy Mountain. The holy icon was painted in the Monastery
of Gregoriou on Mount Athos. It was brought to England by Archimandrite
Philotheos Gregoriatis. Fr Philotheos comes to England every summer, where he
ministers a number of Orthodox communities in the Midlands.
Upon the entrance of the sacred
icon of St Paisios, the Pasaclesis of St Paisios was sung. Afterwards, Fr
Philotheos gave a beautiful spiritual talk on his personal experiences from his
interaction with the new Saint in Orthodoxy. Many Orthodox faithful were
present at this event, coming from Margate, East England, London and
Birmingham. The event was followed by a small reception behind the Church,
where coffee, tea and cakes were given to everyone present. St Paisios is
celebrated in the Orthodox Church on the 12th July.
