Amsterdam, the capital city of
Holland is a fairly small city. Its key feature is the numerous and wonderful
canals, which are to be found all around the city. This capital city has 1703
bridges and 75 miles of canals. These statistics remind us of the fact that the
Netherlands is the world’s flattest country, portions of which have been
reclaimed from the sea with the aid of dykes, canals, tidal barriers and
man-made land.
